Kiddo update

Luke has been smiling for a couple of weeks and we were sort of able to capture it. Also, Kaylin came downstairs to see dada in her badge and pager. Very cute!

Luke 2 month check up

My big boy is weighing in at 9lbs 14oz. Now to some, their babies come out that big. But keep in mind that mine came out 5lbs 11oz. He's on the chart at 15% and gestationally, he's at 50%. He got his shots today too. I did OK. He's a little fussy, but not bad. He's doing very well and "catching up" socially very well. He's smiling and tracking us with his eyes, so he's pretty gifted. =)

Happy Birthday, "Big" Grandma Durner!

My grandma is turning 96 March 15! What a rock star. If I could be half the lady she is I'd be satisfied.

I took Kaylin swimming at Open Swim. I put on a swimsuit. Yikes. But it was very fun to swim with her. It was a very crowded pool so we mostly bounced around singing "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" at the top of our lungs and yelling "Hi" to daddy and baby Luke in the stands.

Two random mommy thoughts. One: on Luke's size 1 diapers is a picture of a baby sleeping with the phrase, "12 hours of overnight protection." Seriously? My baby doesn't even sleep 1 + 2 hours in a row. False advertising. I want the 12 hour sleeping baby. OK, I'll keep mine.

Two: whoever thought of making infant pjs with the cute designs and fancy snaps... Did you try snapping them with a screaming, squirming infant, in the dark, extremely sleep deprived? It's cruel. It makes me feel stupid that I can't line up snaps.

Paging Dr. Kaylin Stein. She loves that stethoscope and lucky for us daddy doesn't ever need it. Don't ask me what she plans for the towel rack.

Update!

Sorry for the delay. We had a weekend with Grandma, which was really fun for all of us! Kaylin is getting good at saying Grandma instead of just Gamma. She's definitely speaking in sentences now. She still doesn't really want to hold Luke but is interacting with him now; holding his hand and checking on him when he's sleeping. She's been enjoying all her big sister presents and doing her puzzles. She went down the 'big girl' slide at the park yesterday to my surprise. She has never done that before but just started climbing and went to the top and yelled, "Big Girl SLIDE!" and then when she got to the bottom she would run back to the stairs yelling, "ONE MORE TIME!" Luke is doing great. We had a "shower" for us today at work and got lots of clothes and goodies for him. He's looking more and more like a baby every day. He's beautiful. He slept in his bassinet last night instead of our bed. I don't remember how many times I got up to regive his pacifier or re-wrap his swaddle, but I think he did pretty well. It's all a blur. This whole journey is a little bit of a blissful blur.

We went to Discover park. Notice Luke's little head. (Dad's fancy camera work) We used our new double stroller from the Steins, Great Steins and Nona. Very fun.

Found a molar coming in for Kaylin today. Read that it doesn't hurt them too much but causes fussiness and trouble sleeping (which we are experiencing!). Great. We have a reason, but I'm too tired to deal with this! =) Luckily, she's pretty darn cute, so I'll manage. You can see how inhibited she is by this video. She kept Yia Yia very busy. Luke weighed in at 7lbs 3oz last Friday. Very quick weight gain. I can't believe he was due tomorrow! I'm so glad I'm not pregnant. And it's hard to believe he's a month old. As tired as I am, I try never to say, "in a couple of months it will be better" because I don't want to miss these months. It really does go by too quickly. What beautiful children I have. I'm so blessed.

First of all, I have no idea why our videos won't play. We're not doing anything different. When I upload them, they work. Then when I come back to them, they don't. If anyone has any ideas, let me know! ***Well, as soon as I posted this, I tried the videos and they worked. I don't know...

Kaylin will be 27 months tomorrow! She's tons of fun. Starting to get a little jealous of her brother, but also showing some independence and talking up a storm. She is so sweet and encouraging. When she asks me what a cat says and I get it right she says, "Great job, mommy. I'm proud of you." Good kid.

Luke is officially starting to look like a newborn, and not so much a preemie/fetus. He's looking a little like Kaylin did at this age. But really, they all look pretty similar at this time. =)

Happy Valentine's Day!

We re-posted some videos for some reason they stopped working on the blog. Here's our little 3 week old. First picture is the outfit Theia Jo got him. Second picture he's wearing the bib Nona got Kaylin. =) Yia Yia is finally going to be able to see Luke on Friday! She got her H1N1 shot last week (I'm a crazy mom trying to protect Luke!) AND got the approval from her doctor saying her foot was fit to fly. Looking forward to the visit. We went to Kent to watch Ben's Lacrosse team play yesterday and then had lunch with "Uncle Ben". Luke enjoyed meeting his uncle and slept soundly in his arms. That's as big of approval as you can get for him.
