It's go time!

I attended my third 'white coat ceremony' on Monday. Kaylin and Joanna got to witness the event as well. You can't see the writing well, but it says, Dr. Gus Stein, Internal Medicine. Gus starts his first day tomorrow.

In other news: Dad likes to give Kaylin mohawks when mom's not looking. Kaylin went to school with me today for my last day. I GET TO STAY HOME WITH HER UNTIL AUGUST 18TH!!!!

Random Thoughts

As I've written before, there's nothing Kaylin likes better than Kaylin. Whether it's watching videos of herself on the computer or seeing herself in a mirror, her happiest moments involve herself. I've been working on some required online residency training over the past couple days, and during that time she's been a wonderful independent player. Every now and then I catch her staring into the tiny mirror on the Exer-Saucer with this huge grin on her face, just admiring her own beauty. Unfortunately, she hears the 'beep' of the camera starting up and it's Showtime, so the video doesn't really catch what I wanted it to. Time is winding down on my Mr. Mom adventure, and I'm really going to miss all of this quality time with Kaylin. I think we've developed a pretty good friendship, and hopefully she continues to recognize me even when I'm gone for 95% of the time she's actually awake. Thanks to everyone who sent along well wishes on Father's Day. We had a great weekend, as you can see. So far being a dad has been about a thousand times better than I ever thought it could be. I've never laughed so much and so frequently. Plus it's a huge self-esteem booster to hang out with someone who thinks everything you do is either hilarious or amazing or both. Jen stopped feeling this way about 3 hours into our relationship. I'm not exaggerating when I say I go into Kaylin's room every single night before I go to bed and A) Thank God that she has blessed our lives, B) briefly try and figure out how I got so lucky, and C) check to make sure her spit-out pacifier hasn't wedged between her face and the bed, ensuring that she'll wake up crying in about 30 minutes. Father's Day part 2

Sunday started out lazy in our new bathrobe. Then after a good morning nap we took a little trip to show Traci our new neighborhood and to see the famous locks. We had a great time watching the water and seeing the fish ladder. Then we headed to the RAM for dinner to watch the first half of the basketball game. Kaylin thought the margaritas looked good. A great Father's Day weekend!

Father's Day Weekend

Today we celebrated the first day of our first father's day weekend. Since it's our first, and dad has to start work next week, we decided to make a whole weekend out of it. These are some pictures from Snoqualmie Falls.

Funny Girls

Last night I was enjoying Game 3 of the NBA Finals and trying to figure out where I could get a sweet Lunch Lady hair net like Sasha "The Machine" Vujacic when I heard some hysterical laughter coming from the back bedroom. I wasn't sure what to expect from a sleep deprived mom after 1/2 glass of wine, but I certainly wasn't disappointed with what I found. The school doesn't require us to return our rented cap and gown for another week, so Jen and Kaylin decided to play dress-up. I guess there's another doctor in the family to contend with now.

Graduation and More

We had a great time at graduation this weekend. I'm honored to be part of such a great group of people, all of whom will make excellent physicians. That being said, try not to get sick or injured in July. Thanks to everyone who sent along cards and well wishes, and especially to those who were able to make it out to Seattle. It meant a lot. Thanks to Aaron for sending some of his pictures for us to share.

Gus graduated from medical school yesterday! Pictures to come. We had a great weekend with family and friends around. We are so proud of Dr. Stein!

6 month check up

Our little girl is 15 lbs and 25 inches. The doctor says she's doing great. She did well with her shots (mom too) and she's completed 3 series of shots. Her next appointment is a 9 month check up AND NO SHOTS for that one.
