Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! Kaylin had a great time looking at all the kids at Mass today. She wore a dress for the first time. :) Thanks to Papou for the bunny hat and to Gramma and Grandpa for the stuffed bunny. They actually gave it to her last Easter when they knew she was on the way. Blessings to all of you on this Easter Sunday. Alleluia!

Crazy but Cute

As mentioned in a previous post, Kaylie has an "Exer-Saucer" which she loves to play in. Recently she's developed this shriek that she lets out when she's playing, which is pretty funny. Next step, TALKING! Also a picture of KJ and her new favorite doll.

We did the St. Patrick's Day Dash, a 5k run with over 16,000 people in Seattle. This is Jen's colleague Marie and her son, Bobby Gus.

Jo and Traci ran with the elite "green group". They waited for us at the finish line.

Colleague Renee stayed with us the whole race. We had a great time.

The Little Scholar

We have received some requests for more pictures, so here they are. That being said, don't expect posts every day people. I have yet to master the blogging skills of my mentor Kevin Eddy, and that's an unattainable level anyway. For some amazingly cute videos of Kaylie's future husband, check out the Eddys' blog (link on the left). Talk about a kid who knows his animals, even I didn't know what sound a mouse makes. Things here are just fine. Jen is working hard and I am not. Auntie Amber is visiting and helping take care of me and Kaylie while Jen is gone. Kaylie is wonderful and maturing quite fast. She grabs frequently for things now and is even more fun to play with than before. She has also found a new favorite book, which she is reading in the video. Unfortunately, she then decides to eat the book instead and eventually becomes distracted by Dad's basketball game on TV. To be fair, Chris Paul was playing and he's very exciting. That's all, and we send our best wishes to Uncle Ben as he coaches the Gonzaga Lacrosse team in California this weekend. Go Zags!

Kaylie and I went to Minnesota over my week off to see friends and family. We got to meet Great Grandma who is turning 94 in March. That was great fun. We also saw aunts and uncles and cousin Kim. Flying 3 hours alone with an infant is an adventure, but Kaylie was great. Dad missed the heck out of her but was very glad she got to have so much fun. Not everyone can be a teacher and get a week off at a time!

After watching us make the cat make noise, she learned that if she pushes her feet against it SHE can make it make noise! I watched her do it a couple of times and realized she actually knew what she was doing. So I sat with the video camera and she did it so I can show the rest of you. Yes, we're sure she is a genius (and future soccer star).

Theia Jo and Traci ran the Valentine's Day 5K in Greenlake on Sunday. Kaylie, Gus and I cheered from the sidelines. They already have plans to run the St. Patty's Day race too...overachievers!

Refusal

Since our last post there have been several requests for pictures/videos of me dancing. This is simply not going to happen. If, however, anyone wants to come out for a visit, there is a good chance you'll see me doing 'The Running Man' to keep my daughter from crying. It's a live show only, folks. Everyone out here is doing great, and we're excited to have Kaylie's Theia Joanna here for the week. Here are some pics.

Back By Popular Demand

Our inboxes have been flooded with requests for more pictures and videos of Kaylie. And by flooded I mean my dad sent me an email about it. We've all been doing very well since we got back from Idaho, and really enjoyed having Yia Yia here for a week. Jen is back at work, much to the delight of her colleagues and students. While she misses Kaylin a lot, she is enjoying her return to school. I'm fighting "senioritis" and trying to stay motivated for the rest of the year, even with the match out of the way. Kaylin has developed a love for dance, confirming that she is indeed her mother's daughter. She can be crying her very hardest, furious at the world because she has to go to sleep, but if we sit her up and start dancing in front of her, she stops and stares, even smiling occasionally. Below is a video of her watching me dance and a picture of what happens when I stop.

SEATTLE!

Congratulations to Gus! Gus matched in Seattle for residency in ophthalmology. We will be spending the next four years in Seattle. We are very excited that he got into the program and Kaylin and mom are very proud of his accomplishment.

Kaylin made her first airplane flight yesterday. She did a great job through the whole thing. Of course everyone around us told her how beautiful she is. She is the star wherever we go. We started small and flew to Spokane so Kaylie could meet her great-grandparents, great-nona, Cousin Matt, Auntie Marie and Uncle Matt, Katrin, Cousins Kristi, Becca, and Saul and Aunt Sallie. Plus, gramma and grampa and Uncle Ben were pretty excited to spend time with her too. She did great today with the visitors (we will have pictures very soon!) and then we had to work for a nap in the afternoon as she was exhausted from all the fun. We fly back to Seattle on Monday and Gus starts his geriatric rotation. I don't work until the 29th, but already I'm dreading it. I am actually supposed to be writing a paper right now but got distracted and decided to post instead....my attention span is shot. :)

We haven't put up a picture in awhile so we thought we would put her favorite thing to do with dad. If she fusses he puts her in the air so she can see what is going on and she stops fussing immediately. If there is the slightest chance she could miss something when she falls asleep, she won't sleep. She likes to be where the party is and gets a little attitude if we keep her from the fun. I know, I have earned every minute of this. I'm not tired!
